We are delighted to have Ruth Mickelson of Eagle, Idaho as our featured quilter for 2014. Ruth has lived in Eagle for 5 years.
1. How did you get involved with quilting?
I was around quilting from a young age, as my grandmother had a quilt set up in her living room every winter. It wasn’t until I was retired that I was able to start quilting. I am a self-taught quilter.
2. What do you like best about quilting?
I enjoy all of quilting. I like all types of quilts, but I tend to work with dark and bright jewel tones a lot. I especially like the complex, difficult patterns. Hand work and portable piecing is another aspect I enjoy ie: wool and applique’.
3.Do you have quilting goals?
As a new owner of a Gammill long arm machine, I am hoping to improve my skills and complete my quilts from start to finish.
Stop by our display of Ruth’s quilts and get to know her better.
